Basbousa recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 cups semolina flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup+2 tbsp melted butter
  • 1 cup yoghurt
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 tbsp vanilla essence
  • Some almonds

For syrup

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • Vanilla essence or lemon juice or cardamom (optional)

 Method:

  1. In a bowl add 2 cups of semolina flour, ½ cup of sugar, ½ cup + 2 tbsp of melted butter,1 cup of yogurt, 1 tbsp of baking powder, 1 tbsp vanilla essence and mix well.Mix using a spoon or by hands to form a heavy and sticky batter.
  2. Apply some oil in a trey and put the mixture.Make shapes/marks that you would like to cut the cake when ready .It can be square or diamond shaped.
  3. Put almonds on top of the mixture on each shape.
  4. Bake at 180for 30-35 minutes.
  5. In a pan boil 1 cup of water and 1 cup of sugar,cook and simmer for 5 minutes.Add cardamom,lemon or vanilla.The syrup should be light and not sticky.
  6. Pour the syrup on top of the basbousa,when the basbousa is hot the syrup should be cold.If the basbousa is cold the syrup should be hot.

You can cut the basbousa into shapes and pour the syrup so that it make soak in the cake.

  • kikombe Siagi nusu kikombe + vijiko 2 (iyayushe)
  • Mtindi mzito kikombe 1
  • Baking powder kjk 1 cha kula
  • Arki ya vanilla kjk 1
  • Lozi kiasi

Kwa shira

  • unahitaji Sukari kikombe 1
  • Maji kikombe 1
  • Arki au Maji ya limau au iliki kiasi (si lazima)

Matayarisho:

  1. Kwenye bakuli changanya unga wa suji vikombe 2,sukari nusu,kikombe siagi nusu kikombe + vijiko 2,mtindi mzito kikombe 1,baking powder kjk 1 cha kula,arki ya vanilla kjk 1.Changanya vizuri kwa kutumia mkono au kijiko.
  2. Pakaza trei yako mafuta na uweke mchanganyiko wako na uutandaze vizuri.Na uweke shepu utakayotaka kuikata kama ni shepu ya pembe nne au diamond
  3. Weka almond juu/lozi unaweza kutoa maganda au kuiacha
  4. Oka kwa dakika 30-35 kwa moto 180
  5. Kwenye sufuria chemsha maji kikombe kimoja na sukari kikombe kimoja na upike shira yako na unaweza kuongeza arki,ndimu au iliki.Ipike kwa dakika 5 isiwe nzito sana
  6. Mwagia shira yako juu ya basbousa (Kama cake ni ya baridi shira inabidi iwe ya moto na kama cake ni ya moto shira inabidi iwe ya baridi)
