Coconut milk Braided bread

Ingredients

  • 10 cups plain flour
  • 3 cups coconut milk (or whole milk)+ plus more if needed
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 tbsp dried yeast
  • 1 tbsp cardamom powder
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp oil (when needed) for kneading
  • Sesame seeds or black seeds (optional)

 

METHOD

1.In a mixing bowl, add half of the coconut milk/milk, yeast mix well then add an egg, cardamom powder and sugar. Mix well all the ingredients so that the sugar can blend in the mixture then add the rest of the coconut milk. Add 1tbsp of butter and mix well. For this process you can use either a mixer or you can use your hands to knead the dough.

2.Start adding flour bit by bit until dough is formed.

3.Apply 1tbsp of butter on your working surface

4.Place the dough and knead until soft. If the dough is too sticky add 1 tbsp of oil on your hands.

5.Brush some oil in your bowl and put the dough, cover the bowl until the dough doubles in size.

6.Dust your work surface with some flour, place the dough

7.Divide it into 10 equal parts (depending on your design.

8.Shape each dough into a rope/line and apply some oil.

9.You can make this coconut braided milk into different designs

  • The first design, we will use three ropes to make these designs then braid them
  • For the second design, we will use four ropes then braid them
  • Another simple design uses two ropes, you can also join the ends to make a circular shape

10.Place your designs in an oiled baking tray, let them rise for 30 mins.

11.Then egg brush and sprinkle some sesame seeds or black seeds on top

12.Bake at 180c for 25 to 30 mins, when done brush some oil or butter on top while the bread is still hot

13.Ready to serve with curry, vegetables or tea.

  • Vikombe 10 / kilo 1 na robo unga wa ngano
  • Nazi vikombe 3 , au zaidi likihitajika yai 1
  • Kikombe 1 sukari
  • Vjk 2 vya kula hamira
  • Kjk 1 cha kula iliki ya unga
  • Siagi vjk 3
  • Vjko 2 mafuta (yakihitajika kwenye kukanda)
  • Ufuta au habasoda (au vyote) ukipenda

MATAYARISHO

1.Kwenye bakuli lako la kukandia weka nazi/maziwa pamoja na hamira.Koroga vizuri na uweke yai,iliki na sukari.Koroga Vizuri na umalizie tui ama maziwa uyamalizie yote.

2.Weka siagi kijiko kimoja kwenye mchanganyiko na uanze kuweka unga wa ngano kidog kidogo huku unakoroga mpaka donge liwe linashikana.Unaweza ukatumia mashine kukoroga au mkono.

3.Pakaza siagi sehemu ambayo utafanyia kazi kukanda unga wako/donge lako.Endelea kuongeza unga huku ukikanda unga wako/donge lako mpaka liweze kusikana vizuri(Kama donge lako linanyata endelea kuongeza siagi/mafuta)

4.Kanda unga wako mpaka uwe mlaini,kisha ihamishe kwenye bakuli lakuhamushia ambalo utalipaka mafuta na kisha subiri mpaka unga/donge lako liumuke mara mbili yake.

5.Pakaza unga kwenye sehemu yako ya kazi kisha gawa donge lako mara kumi au kumi na moja kutegemeana na size na shepu utakayo penda.

6.Mandazi hayo unaweza kuyaweka kwa shepu mbali mbali na hapa nitawaoneshaa shape za aina tatu:

  • Kwa shepu ya kwanza,chukua madonge matatu,chukua madonge yako na yafanye shepu ya mstari,kisha paka mafuta katika kila donge /mistari na kisha uanze kusuka maandazi yako
  • Shepu ya pili,chukua madonge manne kisha yafanye shepu ya mstari na uyasuke
  • Shepu ya tatu,chukua madonge mawili kisha fanya shepu ya mstari na uyasokote.Unaweza kuizungusha kutengenezza shepu ya duara au ukaacha design hio hio.

7.Pakaza mafuta trei zako na weka design zako na kisha ziache ziumuke kwa dakika 30.

8.Pakaza mayai juu na uweke na ufuta au haba soda

9.Choma maandazi yako kwa dakika 20 au 25 kwa moto wa oven 180

10.Mandazi yako yakiwa tayari pakaza mafuta/siagi juu yake kulifanya lilainike Zaidi.
